What are hyaluronic acid dermal fillers?
Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are injectables containing hyaluronic acid used to restore volume in the skin improving overall appearance of the face.

When are dermal fillers used?
Dermal fillers are used to address nasolabial folds (facial creases between the nose and mouth), improve marionette lines (lines or wrinkles that extend from the outer corners of the mouth down toward the chin), correct “lipstick lines” around the mouth, restore fuller cheeks, plump and reshape the lips, plump and lift cheeks, improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles on face, neck and decolletage. Dermal fillers are also used for under eye area in the tear trough to achieve a rested and healthy look.
Dermal fillers may help delay the need for more invasive procedures, such as a facelift, brow lift or other procedures.

How is a dermal filler procedure performed?
The filler is injected with a fine needle into strategic points on your face in combination with topical or local anesthesia.The injection sites are cleansed with an antibacterial agent, followed by icing or a topical numbing agent to make more sensitive patients comfortable. The filler itself may contain an anesthetic agent or you may receive a local anesthetic.
Multiple injections are often needed to fill wrinkles or recessed scars. Enhancing your lips with fillers also requires multiple injections to distribute the filler for enhanced lip fullness and to raise or define a cupid’s bow or vermillion border.

How long does a treatment take?
15 minutes for every treated region.

How many treatments are needed ?
One treatment session will give satisfying results, however, it is recommended to treat some areas gradually in 2-3 treatments.

How long till results are seen?
Improvement is seen immediately.

How long do the results last?
From 6 months to 3 years depending on the filler and area treated.

What is involved in recovery?
Your initial appearance after treatment with any filler may include mild swelling or bruising, temporary numbness or redness and temporary irregularity to touch in the soft tissue or skin.
These side effects are easily managed with topical icing and will improve within hours or just a few days.
Avoid massaging the treated area.
You may apply make-up 12 hours after the treatment.
You may resume your daily activities immediately after the treatment.

What if the treatment is not repeated when time comes?
Gradually you appearance will return to the pretreatment state.

Who shouldn't have dermal fillers?
People with skin infections, autoimmune diseaes, unrealistic expectations as well as pregnant and lactating women.

What are the unwanted effects?
Mild redness and edema fade away in 12-24 hours. Bruising is rare and heals in 4-7 days. Very rarely lumps may occur and they can be removed with an incision or hyaluronidase.

Who is qualified to inject dermal fillers?
Doctors who specialize in cosmetic procedures will have the most experience. Face rejuvenation requires the knowledge and experience in facial anatomy, drugs used, their side effects and complications. In general, dermatologists and plastic surgeons are the ones who use it most, therefore their skills are way better.
